#178, "anyone start one baby at a time on solids?"

yesterday we had our 6 mo. pedi appt. she said that one of the trio seems ready to start solids.

has anyone started only one baby at a time? is that a recipe for insanity?

also, is there parent here who has celiac who knows how to/if we should ever introduce gluten into baby's diet?

thanks?!

I did. Addie was ready and the other two were not. Aiden followed in a couple of weeks, but Averie was not ready until 6 months actual age. I kept trying but she just wouldn't take it. Addie was 4 months actual age when I started giving her solids. It worked out fine for me doing it that way. HTH!

thanks Kelly. mine are nearly 6 mo, 4.5 mo adjusted.
maybe I'll try it? I think I need to read up on solids a little more before I get there.

I had one that was super ready, one that was on the fence, and one that was not ready when we started cereal at around 5 months actual. They were all still hungry after 32 oz of formula so our pedi told us to start cereal only, and to not give it to them in a bottle. She said while they might not be good at taking food off a spoon they would learn and the practice would be good for them. It took a month or so for them all to get used to it and figure it out but they did. My slow one, Tess, used to let it ooze out of her mouth and her tounge reflex was still strong so it was frustrating and messy but starting solids is more about the learning experience than the actual nutritional benefit so I took it slow and didn't expect much. I would have held off longer on starting all together if they weren't such hungry little hippos... LOL!

HTH!

We started ours a different times too. When you want to syncronize them on what they can eat and how much, simply run through the list again for all of them. i.e. When baby number 3 is finally ready to start fruits...they all get that fruit for the three day trial...the newbie just gets less of it.

We started ours at the same time. However, Brody wasn't as in to it as his brothers. Basically I just offered it and if he wasn't interested, I fed the other 2 and let him watch. Now at almost 8 mo. actual they all like to eat (usually).

Our Ped. told us the same thing. We are feeding Abbey solids and waiting on the other two. It's not going real well yet but I'm not worried about it. He told us it was just for practice right now.
