#262, "Q about wake times"

I posted this on the Main forum since parents of older kids might be able to help, but do any of you have advice? I am tired!

I am trying to follow Weisbluth's advice on scheduling sleep since it really helped my daughter (& still does). Honestly, I feel like we are hitting a routine now with the babies but I am not sure what to do when one wakes up early.

Did you wake the others (or they wake each other, more likely?!) during the day. I am trying to get a sleeping routine down and am getting them all up in the a.m. at the same time so that 2 hours later their first nap hits. Usually, I wake them all when the first one wakes to keep them on the same 2 hour window again (partly to allow my 2 year old to get some one on one time and so that I can get her down for her nap at a time when they aren't all crying!!!). The rest of the day, I let them wake up on their own schedule and keep track of the 2 hour window. It is not ideal but I am trying to get a schedule that works for our daughter too. I hope this makes sense - I guess my real question is: how did you deal with early wakers?

Thanks!

I bring down whoever wakes up. I try and settle them back down if it's before 6:15-6:30 but it doesn't always work. I wake them all up by 7 if they aren't awake. Then I try and hold off the early waker as much as I can to get her napping at the same time as the others; again doesn't always work. Mostly we just keep track of when each wakes up, and then try and get them down for a nap 2 hours after that point and cross our fingers that there is some overlap! HTH!

Ours eat at 8am,11,2,5,8pm...they then sleep 8:30pm-8am. We stick to this like crazy glue LOL if someone is sleeping we wake them up. We do not have set naps worked in yet...I would like to soon...they sorta just nap on their own when they want.

I have one who we say "Likes to Party". He is always waking up before the others. When he wakes up during the day, we just let him get up. He seems to do fine on less sleep than the others. But, he also tends to get up during the night early. I am a bad mother- I let him get in bed with us to sleep! I love cuddling with him, and this seems to get him to go back to sleep until the others wake up.

Anyway, I hope you figure it out. Our nap schedule is what we are trying to work on- It seems like it should be easy in theory, but it is hard!

Good Luck!
