#303, "Okay Ladies need some help on adding another solid feed..."

I've dropped them from 4 bottles to 3 and so now they have a bottle at breakfast, lunch, and before bed. For dinner they have only solids. I give a big variety of meat, veg, fruit, yogurt, something starchy, etc. They do not take baby food well anymore so they are on soft things that I can make myself. They are loving the finger foods also. So my question is that I'm ready to drop the lunch bottle b/c they are starting to fight it like they'd rather have something else anyway. What do I give them? I've tried the past 2 days to give an oatmeal or baby cereal along with some fruit and veggies. They seem to absolutely hate this. They seem satisfied when they are done, but then haven't been sleeping at the afternoon nap as well and seem to be hungry for dinner a lot faster than normal. They are also all 3 teething like crazy. Should I just feed them the same as I would for dinner? I'd like to give more variety if possible. It's just been so long since I did this w/my now 4.5yo dd. TIA ladies.

we only do 3 bottles a day now and mine aren't with meals though, when they first get up, around 3:00-3:30 then before bed at 7:30. for lunch i have been giving them Tatar tots, cheese, ravioli, yogurt, diced fruit, or a dinner jar of seconds with a side of something else but as yours the baby food isn't going over as well anymore then they get cheerios or puffs after they finish the "main course" as kind of a snack we do not have a separate snack time since they still get that afternoon bottle there is no where to fit snack in. so if you think its a matter of filling them up more i think maybe try getting what they would at dinner might work just give them a different option for the next meal if you are worried about variety, i am the same way

I don't know what is right or wrong only know what I did for my boys when they were little.

Breakfast - oatmeal, fruit and 1/2 sippy cup of milk
Snack - cheerios (or something) and bottle
Lunch - soft table food and 1/2 sippy cup of milk
Snack - yogurt (or something) and bottle
Dinner - soft table food and 1/2 sippy cup of milk
Before bed - bottle

I felt because they were preemies they still needed that milk til they were at least 2. At 14 months, milk was all in cups instead of bottles.

My food choices were: green beans, peas, black eye peas, macaroni and cheese, tator tots, cheese, ravioli, diced fruit, bread, corn, vienna sausages, small pieces of chicken, spaguetti, sliced hot dogs, softened sweet potatoes, cut up advocados. I'm sure there is more, just can't remember right now.

I hope this helps.

Lisa

Thanks for the help. I've kind of made it into breakfast for now, since they are only having a bottle at breakfast time. The first 2 days were rough but they are really liking it now and taking the bedtime bottle better.
