#304, "play pen or play yard?"

The first of my trio is starting to crawl... yikes! I thought we had another month or so before crawling, so I am completely unprepared! I'm know I'm going to need to "corral" her (and the other 2 once they figure it out). Just curious what other people use, where you bought it, and approximate pric. Also, any likes / dislikes about it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

i use a play yard that you can configure anyway you want. I bought it a onestepahead. It cost $ 100 I then purchase a few extension.. I actually asked my parents to purchase this as the trio christmas gift. I love it. I have 2 on the move now and use it everyday all day. It even has one panel with toys on it that the kids like. I hardly use my playpen anymore.

we have a play yard with one extension and we kept it enclosed for the first 6 months but then it became to small for all three and their toys so we opened it up and basically used it as a wall(if that makes sense to you) going lengthwise across the room and it works great!

Sounds like I have the same one as Rita. I have it w/2 extension kits added on and it is 29sq ft of fun. They love it. I love it. Definitely $ well spent. We take it w/us anytime we are going somewhere for the day or longer.

The play yard will last longer. We have one from Wal-mart...actually we have three of them. Penning them works fine while they crawl, but once they start walking they will soon get very unhappy staying in the pen. That is when most people put up gates, babyproof, and use the panels from the pen to keep babies away from some areas (entertainment center, computer, fireplace etc.)

We use ours to keep the girls away from the computer and entertainment area...since we aren't in that area often, and there isn't a lot there to attract them yet, they haven't broken through yet.

Have fun...I remember one of our trio just giggled when she could get moving...she was so happy to be able to GO!

The play yard gives you more options...you can move it outside, make different configurations etc...I think she'll get frustrated in a small space such as a play pen...HTH

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I ended up with the Little Play Zone one that you can add extensions to. We love it!!
