We always layed ours down together kissed them all good night and turned off the light and closed the door. They would cry at first, but got over it after awhile. Now they are 16mths and we read a story, say our prayers, kiss good night and they go to sleep on their own. It is hard to let them cry it out, but you may have to. It may be they know you are still in the room when you lay the 1st and 2nd down and they want you to hold them still. I am not sure how old they are, but just like the other response you can start letting them cry it out at 3 to 4 mths. Destiny, Dave, Luke, Trent and Brandon
