Hello! I just gave birth to BBG trips on 3/11 and started pumping breast milk about two days post c-section due to complications. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op and I am pumping an average of 24 - 28 oz a day, about 5 times a day (when I'm not exhausted) for 15 min each session.
Are these numbers good? Should I be pumping more or more often? How can I increase my milk?
My babies drink about 50 - 60 mls of breast milk fortified with 22 Cal Neosure every three hours.
I am new at all of this, so ANY advise would be helpful! Thanks so much!
Blessings, Christina

Congrats! Sounds good! But if you really want to build up and increase your supply and output, you should be pumping every 3 hours around the clock. This is what I did and I made lots of milk. Enough for them to have breastmilk during the day and formula only at night. Some pumping moms have never even had to supplement, maybe they have more advice.
Best of luck!

My girls are almost 10 weeks old now. I pump every two hours during the day when at all possible (sometimes it's more like three) but I always make sure to get at least 8 sessions in per day. I also make sure that they are all 20 minutes long. Sounds really dorky, but I bought a cheap watch at wal-mart with a timer on it. I set it each time I start, that way I always know when my two hours are up!
I have had good success with pumping and have had enough milk for all three. I wake up every 4-5 hours at night to pump as well. We are also doing one formula feed per night (per doc's recommendation) and freezing any extra milk for when I go back to work. Good luck!
