#503, "9mo...naps- how many and how long?"

These guys have been sleeping 10-12 hours through the night since about 4 1/2 mo. We have always just let them crash out where there are for naps. The last couple of weeks they haven't been doing so hot with this. So we are going to start putting them in their cribs for naps. I was thinking of doing 1 or 2 naps a day but not sure how long I should let them sleep....I don't want them to stop sleeping through the night. What do you guys do? TIA!

Mine are younger...but...we always do this:
Up at 730a
down for long nap at noon (2hours)
up at 130-2ish.
They long nap they nap in their crib,
the rest of they day, they catnap where they want to. The going in their cribs didnt disbrupt their night sleeping.
They go to bed at night at about 630 or 7.

HTH.
I have tried to figure out how to do 2 naps...but nothing seems to fit our schedule like the one long nap...not to mention it helps me have a "ME" moment during the day.

We aim for 2 naps a day. One is usually a pretty long nap, and the other shorter. We put them down when they look tired, usually around 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Occasionally, they won't take 2 naps and just one, but end up going down for the night earlier. We haven't had any problem with them not sleeping through the night, and it seems like they actually sleep better at night the more they nap during the day. . . .

Mine just hit 9 months this week and they nap at 10:00 am for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Then, they need an afternoon nap at 2:00 -- this can last between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I try not to let them sleep past 4:00 to protect their 7:00 bedtime. I find if they don't sleep past 3:30, bedtime also has to be moved up.

They really struggle to sleep if not in their beds (even if their bed is a pac n play in the dark but heated pantry! LOL). Good luck!

We are down to 2 naps now. 10:30 and 2:30 lasting from 1 hr to 1 1/2 hours each in their cribs. Ours have slept thru the night since they were about 4 months old and did not have any trouble when we added our naps. They still sleep 11 hours a night. I do not ever let their naps go past 2 hours though, I will wake them first.

BTW your Easter pics are so adorable!!!!

My 9 month olds take two naps. They wake at 6:30ish, nap from 9:00-10:30 and then from 1:30-3:30. Bedtime is 7 PM.
