#558, "old "enough" to understand??"

HI! I have 12 month (almost 10 month corrected) BBG triplets and all of a sudden the boys are raising their hands (putting them in their eyes, above their heads, batting at the spoon, etc.) during feedings and I'm not sure what to do. I know that they like the foods I'm serving and I've tried saying "no," using a stern voice, making a serious face, even squeezing their feet to get their attention. Unfortunately, they have never been great eaters, therefore not feeding them much and then hoping that they'll be hungrier later doesn't always work. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure if they understand what I'm saying when I tell them to put their hands down. I think that they understand b/c they do it correctly 2 times and then they're back at it again. Please help!

Also would love suggestions for transitioning to the sippy cups. We tried it with formula last weekend and everyone cried and hated it. Even our girl who eats like a champ! We're planning on switching to whole milk in a day or two and I'd like to switch over cold turkey, but want to make sure that they'll get hungry enough and actually take them. My babies were very premature and they are still small and, like I said, not great eaters (apart from the girl) to begin with. Any and all help is appreciated!
Thank you so much!!

For us, this was the beginning of their transition to self feed items. For a while we would give them spoons to play with while we fed, or self feed foods, and then we would spoon the rest of it to them while they were occupied. Unfortunately they quickly moved to rejecting anything that wasn't self feed. It happened at around 9m adjusted.

at that age you should be able to give them all sorts of table food. the only time you'll have to feed them is with yogurt, oatmeal, etc... choose your battles wisely.
