I have BBG born 7-31-08. I just seperated them into their own cribs. I am trying to get them to sleep through the night. Jarrod the biggest (almost 19 lbs.) wakes up every 3 hours and crys until I give him a bottle. The other 2 will sleep from 7:00-5:30 which I love. How do I get Jarrod to sleep through the night?

Jarod sounds like one of my boys. We ended up doing cry it out when Eli who used to sleep through the night started waking up (we learned it was due to sensory issues). We did a less aggressive version, i.e. going in every 15 minutes to pat his back and make sure he is ok.

It took two weeks before he stopped waking up. I know if you are aggressive with it some report success in 3 days. But before you do sleep training make sure that the baby is not teething or sick, or anything that would cause him to keep waking up such as a dirty diaper.

We also did infant massage (gentle but firm pressure on his limbs and torso) which really calmed him down before sleep. We also use a noise machine. One thing that has also helped Eli is to have a wearable blanket since he likes to be confined (he's too big for swaddling). These address his sensory issues but even if a baby does not have sensory issues, it should help calm a baby down.

Good luck.

What is your schedule during the day? Try to fill them up with as much milk during the day as possible...then they shouldn't wake up hungry. Also - do you have a nighttime routine set? We do the EXACT same thing every night (solid, bath, Baby Einstein, bottle, crib) so they know when it is time to start settling down. Other than that, you may have to just let them cry it out.

I feed mine every 3 hours during the day...still...so they get all the calories they need during the day time hours. When we started trying to get them to STTN I would reduce the amount in the middle of the night bottle each time they woke up until it was down to 2oz and then at that point I let them CIO, which they actually didn't need to do much of.

i have the same problem Two of them wake up any where from 2-4 in the morning. I finally got fed up and let them cry it out. i felt that they are almost 10months old and it was enough!! first night they cried for 30min, It was hard for me but threw a pillow over my head. Last night they went to sleep and woke up at 6am!!! YAY!!!! tonight im crossing my fingers and hoping they will again sleep thru the night. Good Luck. It seems letting them cry it out works.(I Hope) Gila
