#645, "Overnight Wetness"

One of my daughters is sleeping 9-9 1/2 hours a night, and I'm getting close to starting to let her work her way up to 12. The problem is, at the 9 hour mark she is already wetting through. This past weekend she wet through the sheet, so that when hubby did morning duty he had to take the sheet off the bed and wipe down the mattress. I give her a final feed at 11:30 and change her right before then.

I've looked but there aren't any overnight diapers in her size (she's 13 pounds). What do you guys do - double up? Get the next bigger size (the current ones I use are already kind of big, since they're 12-18 pounds)? Use those plastic underpants my mom keeps harping on me about?

Thanks.

Hi,
That is great that she is sleeping through the night. Don't want to wake her to change diapers!!!

Huggies Overnights is the key! They come in size 3. I would try those and just fasten them tighter. As long as they aren't lose around her legs you should be good to go!

Mine weighed a bit less than yours once they started peeing thru diapers. . .so I second the Huggies size 3....its hard to find them at walmart, or target, or even babies r us...weve ordered them off diapers.com.

I have only found them once in the actual babies r us store.

I bought I think 2 boxes at a time to get th free shipping...but as small as yours are, you could bu several boxes in one swoop.

Mine monkeys are 10months old and still wearing size 3 huggies overnights.

Ill warn you though...once you hit the 12-13 hour sleeping stretch....even the huggies fail sometimes...so for our one that pees a ton...all the time...we got chucks. Chucks are the things they put underneath you after you have a baby...we cut one in half and put under him at night time....and that absorbs his run over pee about 85% of the time so I dont have to change the entire bed daily.

I didn't discover Huggies Overnights until mine were in size 5s, but I wish I knew about them earlier.

When mine were in size 3 diapers, I double diapered them for a while at night. It seemed to do the trick.

We always went up a size for overnight diapers. When they were too little to fit in Huggies Overnights we just went up a size in Pampers. When that stopped working we went with the Overnights one size up.

In addition to using the size 3 overnights you can add a maxipad inside the diaper for some extra absorpsion. It sounds strange but can be the difference to prevent wetting through the sleeper. For boys, place at the very top of diaper in front and for girls the very top in back. HTH!

Huggies Overnights! We had the same problem until we discovered them. The smallest size is 3, and we've only found them at Toys/Babies R' Us. If they're a little big it's still okay (just pull the tabs tighter).

Thanaks! I went out and bought two packages and they seem to be working. Still had a few leak thru's, but not as bad or as many as before.

Not sure where you are, but if you have a Safeway grocery store near you, they have a new store brand diaper there. Its called "Mom to Mom" and they have "supreme" diapers that I love. We've been using them for over a month and they haven't leaked yet. I put them on the girls at 6pm and don't change their diapers again until 6am. They are just a bit cheaper than Pampers or Huggies and the supremes are awesome for night coverage!

We just use Pampers Dry Fit as our "nighttime diapers" and make sure they are high up and tight in the front (if she sleeps on belly). We have not had many problems with wetting through although they have had some pretty full diapers in the morning. Once you wean her off the 11:30pm feed it will probably get a lot better too.
