#695, "Runny Poo"

I was hoping someone might have some advice for me. When the babies were younger, <7mo old, their poo was "solid" meaning it didn't run all over the place. Ever since we started feeding them solids, their poo has become progressively runnier. Now it is like they have perpetual diarrhea. I have tried giving them more rice foods, and banana. I have switched from cow milk to soy (this helped with my oldest.) I have run out of ideas of how to correct this. I am hoping someone reading this may have had a similar situation. It has been going on consistently for a few months now.

Have you called their doctor? Our pedi told us to look for bm changes when starting solids...that diarrhea could be a sign of food allergies. I have a good friend whose son has a soy and dairy intolerance and they finally started diagnosing him following a really runny, yellow bm one day. They actually took the diaper to the doc. I think if I were you, I would call the doc and maybe even see a gastro, and if you think it might be allergies, an immunologist.

Food allergies are the colprit for my kids having runny poo. They are now 2 1/2 and I feed them cheese to counteract the runny stuff. Fruit, beans, and eggs are our issues.
