my smallest baby with bpd has been having really bad diarrhea. he had to be taken to the hospital the other day for fluids, and he is still going strong with the diarrhea...due to that he wasnt able to get his synergis shot, but also due to his bpd we do need to get it for him.the doctor told us to wait to monday and "see". so we did, but now that he isnt getting better i am wondering if that was the right choice...we need him to have it...his 29-31 day widow passes today...so sunday and monday he has no coverage....anyone else been through this? what did you decide? give the synergis even if he is still sick? or did you wait til he was better? happy with whatever decision you made or regret it? oh, and my babies are 8.5 months acutal and 6 months adjusted.

Since Synergis is the antibodies directly, and not something that challenges the immune system to create immunity, I would go ahead and get it. Additionally, if he has had them before and been fine, he has shown he won't have reactions to it. I think the web site for it says that it can be given when well or sick (and was sometimes given to babies with RSV to help them fight it)
