#1772, "foot appt tomorrow"

I have to go back tomorrow for re-xrays and to find out if I have to have the surgery to have pins put in my toe & foot. I am SO nervous about it! Ridiculous - as if worrying could do anything. I haven't slept much in the last two days for worrying about it. But if that doctor tells me I have to, I am just going to cry.

Chuck has to go back out of town Saturday for another week. My MIL will be here 1/2 the time and my mom the other half. I can't decide if it would be easier to do it by myself or have "help". What in the world am I going to do if he says I have to have surgery and has to be done now while I have 4 kids + a mom to deal with? It would be so much more convenient if I could wait until the second half of February. (DH is a CPA - he will be slammed in Jan.) I wonder if Feb is an option?

Somebody slap me and tell me to quit stressing over what I can't control.

im sorry that you are having to deal with the stress of a broken foot and MIL and Mother along with DH traveling and add christmas to the whole ordeal and well.

If your dr says that the foot needs surgery and pins my advice is do it sooner than later. My neighbor broke his foot a few years back and keept putting the surgery off for this reason or that (wanting to snow blow the drive way the rest of the winter and making sure his wife could handle the sail boat etc and when all was said and done it was almost a year later that he had his surgery and while his foot feels great now he has had to have surgery on his other knee and a hip replacement due to excess wear and tear from him favoring that leg for SO long. He was in a great deal of pain durring that year he put off the surgery and it resulted in more pain and down time in the end.

Good luck with your app and I hope all is healing well

Wow...I hope that your foot heals and the pins aren't needed, but I suspect that they will allow you to put it off for a little while. My friend had pins put in her foot after they tried for 8-9 months to get it to heal. They had her doing all sorts of stuff, including whirlpool treatments to increase blood flow and pool workouts for the same reason. Not that you have time for that sort of thing, but hey, if insurance will pay for a spa membership, why not? Now if they would just pay for child care while you are there....

Hey Megan,

I just had surgery last week and had two pins put in my second toe and while it was hell being off my foot for a week, it really isn't all that bad. I am already back in my gym shoe and walking around (a little limp, but nothing terrible). Get it done now so it doesn't create more problems later.

I can give you lots of good advice if you have to have surgery!

NO SURGERY!!!! Woo hoo! That's the good news. On the xray, the bones were all perfectly lined up and you see could see a shadow where they were starting to mend in the proper alignment.

The bad news is that it hasn't healed quite as much as he expected given that I am still young and so on. So I have to wrap it and wear this stupid shoe for 3 more weeks, then an athletic shoe for 2 more weeks until I go back for another xray.
