Tanna - that's so funny! I would've probably done the same thing... here's your sucker now get off my lawn, lol!
We had a few older kids come by. Most were dressed up, but a few showed up on the doorstep by themselves with only a t-shirt on that said something like "I'm with the Band." Another one had a glo-necklace on with regular clothes. WTH? These kids are in high school.
We gave them candy, and my FIL would tell them "Great costume!" Then they'd look at us like we were the crazy ones. We laughed SO HARD every time. Loren GGG Jan.2005 @ 28wks

I'm in the minority on this one. If someone is in a costume and says, "Trick or Treat" they get candy at our house. I think with the way the economy is and the feel of everyone struggling to get through, Halloween is a great reminder for everyone to just have fun. Granted, your trick-or-treaters were lame...around here when teens/college kids/adults trick or treat, the costumes are really creative. Maybe that's why it's so fun? That's odd. We have had adult parents dress up WITH their kids and trick-or-treat. We are fine with that and think it is funny. Heck, if they take the time to dress up then they get a treat. But, I agree that going without kids and barely wearing a costume is weird. I probably would've done what you did.
I did continue trick-or-treating up until my senior year in high school. My friends and I all dressed up to enjoy our last year of it. We only got a few strange looks. Nik GBG triplets born 4/2/05 30w5d www.thebestthingscomein3.blogspot.com

OMG! I'm laughing so hard. That's why you have kids! So they can be your candy pawns. Good grief!!! Michele Sarah, Gregory, Amanda born 1/22/04 at 35w1d
