#437, "toddler cookbooks"

My toddlers are eating the same food everyday. I have a bunch of baby cookbooks (super baby food, blender baby food) but I need some toddler cookbooks that are easy. Any suggestions?

Try Deceptively Delicious from Jerry Seinfeld's wife. I've got the cookbook and have yet to try anything, but the recipes look great. And my intentions are good!

And if you don't crave to puree the stuff, a friend of mine suggested using baby food instead. How genius is that? LOL!

I have this cookbook too. And like you, I have yet to puree anything and try the recipes. I just don't have the time. I like the idea of baby food. I will try that!

Oh, no doubt! Who has the time to puree? Isn't baby food the best idea?

I have to get my book out and start using it. I'm in a cooking rut and I bet this will be fun.

The Care Bears' Party Cookbook is on my list to get. I had it when I was a kid, and I LOVED it. If I remember correctly, it is mostly quick snack-type recipes.

I don't have any other cookbook suggestions, but here are some of my boys favorites:

-red beans and rice w/sausage and cornbread
-chicken quesadillas w/ mexican rice and corn on the cob
- roast w/ potatoes and carrots
- lemon pepper chicken
- Chicken and dressing casserole (let me know if you want recipe-very quick and easy) Also easy to hide pureed veggies
- Ham steak and bbq beans
-Nachos made w/ baked tortilla chips, dip in mild salsa
-Chicken alfredo with spiral pasta (hide pureed broccoli in sauce!)

Also, my boys have recently discovered the wonderful world of dipping stuff in condiments. If I give them something that is a little plain/boring, I'll throw a condiment in there for them to dip, and they gobble it down.

Favorite condiments:
-ketchup
-fat free ranch
-BBQ sauce
-honey mustard
-mild-medium salsa (I would have never guessed they would like salsa this young!)

I love hiding pureed veggies in condiments. Usually it doesn't change the flavor too much, and they never know that they are eating their veggies!

I have the First Meals book by Annabel Karmel. The beginning has a lot of the baby food purees, but the second half has toddler and family meal ideas. My kids absolutely love the Zucinni (sp?) and Tomato frittata (actually so does my mother). I have also made a number of the pasta dishes. There was one fish hotdish that my kids didn't care for. All the meals are super easy which is good for me since I hate to cook.
