I really loved the toilet trainer. I popped it on the toilets and they were good to go. (No pun intended, of course.)

I still had a little potty with all of the bells and whistles, but our girls preferred to sit on the big toilet with the trainer.

Am I an expert? No! I didn't give out awards. I never had a potty party. No one got an M&M for a BM.

We just clapped and cheered and I really never pushed PT.

Good luck!

Lisa

We have the toilet rings and I did encourage using the big potty, especially for poop. We also have 3 Baby Bjorn potties (not the little ones). We did need 3. There were times when all 3 wanted to sit at once. Now that they are all trained we don't use the little ones much any more but there are still times that they come in handy.

I didn't give out candy or do potty parties either. We just made a big deal out of when they went. I did show them cute princess and Thomas panties to try to encourage them to want to train. That did help especially with my 2nd potty trainer who really wanted those panties and wasn't thrilled that her sister got them first.

We bought the little Ikea potties. I think my girls are almost ready to start but my son is nowhere near ready.

Does anyone have a potty training book to recommend? I have no idea where to begin with this.

I just bought the cheap seats at Wal-Mart. Originally I only bought one potty chair and one toilet seat cover...but soon learned all three wanted to go at the SAME time. Then, they all fought over which seat they wanted. I ended up buying a total of three (exact) potty chairs and everything was easy after that. All three trained in just 3 days!

I did a potty dance and a poppy dance each time someone went. I made a huge deal of it. My kids got a cookie only if they pooped. Other than that they just got a sticker and a huge hug and dance with Mom. It was great exercise for me!

I faded the cookie out one month later and no one missed it. Good luck. You will feel a great sense of freedom after this task is done

I hope you dont mind me posing another question on your message board...but is it recommended to train all three at one time or do one at a time? I have started with my daughter, and she is doing good. They boys go in the potty too...as long as they are sitting on it. Neither of the boys tell me they need to go (or indicate it rather). Whereas my daughter will tell me she is about to, or just did. So I wonder if I should devote 100% attn to one at a time?

We started with the Baby Bjorns too... the bigger/ regular ones. We got three... one per bathroom. I soon added the potty rings for each bathroom, as it never fails that more than one wanted to go at the same time. I also added in a couple of hand-me-downs that had the bells and whistles on them, but soon eliminated them. They seemed to leak much more than the Bjorns did (although we did have leakage with the Bjorns too... it was hard to have the boys remember to point it down when they went).

I tried to train all three at one time, but only two really picked up on it when we started. The other one didn't train until almost 6 months later (but he was the easiest when he was ready, with barely any accidents and trained in 2-3 days... even at night). We are now past that stage and have long-removed the potty seats. We only keep rings in each bathroom, which they sometimes use. I did move one of the Baby Bjorns to our van for trips. Makes getting out and about a lot easier.

If you have boys, I have also heard lots of good things about the urinal-style potty (Peter Potty, or something like that).
