Our triplets(BBG)will be 4 yrs in June. We like throwing the big party, but I don't want it to be just the same old birthday party. Any good ideas? Planning to do at home assuming that will be less costly than doing it at some fun places...also suggest on what favors to give.

We usually have a BBQ at home and it is always fun. This year we are having at a local play ground and I am thinking of getting a clown person to do balloons. They also do face painting and magic tricks as well. The cheapest I found so far was $110 for an hour, $140 for an hour and a half. A bit out of our budget for something we are just thinking about, so I am trying to see if I can get a cheaper alternative

Or recently we went to a bday party where they had a bounce house.

My SIL does big theme parties like a carnival or petting zoo, or luaus and stuff.

Good luck!

My daughter just had a party for the first time for her 4 year old boys. She did a farm theme. The only other children were their 6 cousins so she didn't have games, etc. but they love to be together and entertain themselves. They had pulled pork sandwiches, and bbq chicken. She had drawn a huge barn for the wall and I ordered a happy birthday banner with a cow pattern. I also found some amazing farm theme balloons on ebay and made treat bags for the kids with farm theme items I also found on ebay. I lined the bags with a cow pattern bandana. For the adults, I made treat bags with black and white candies and tied the bags with cow pattern ribbon. It was simple, but attractive with her checked tablecloths and jars of wildflowers.

My boys turned 4 yesterday. I wanted to have a big party for them but my daughter who is ten months was supposed to have surgery last week and it was rescheduled to this week. Planning a party around surgery was proving to be difficult especially since we didn't want her around lots of people. All that to say, I wound up arranging a play date at the park. I surprised them and invited a few friends from school and their cousins who could make it. We had a picnic and some birthday cake. It was so simple and easy BUT they had the best day. It cost basically nothing because we just had sandwiches and cake. One of my sons actually told me last night while he was brushing his teeth "Mommy, you are my best friend and I had the best day to for my birthday" Made my whole day. Just seems like the kids enjoyed the simple day better than anything else.

Family Fun has a ton of good ideas with ideas that are as easy to do as they look (www.familyfun.com). We've done a Yellow Submarine part, Wild West, Luau, Princess and Knight and Firefighter. The Yellow Submarine (completely made up) was a blast, and the firefighter one was great with a lot of it taking place at the local fire department (for FREE).

If you have a lot of kids as guests, renting a large bounce-house is great. We got a discount when we rented the bounce-house and a clown together at our last b'day party.

There are also "party pony" rentals in our area, so it could be tied into a cowboy/western theme party.

Last year we did a dinosaur party that was a blast... the kids dug for little plastic dino's in our backyard sandbox and I had a dino cake. The rest was just fun outdoor play. The goodie bags included a little larger plastic dino from the dollar store, dino coloring sheets, stickers and bubbles.

This June we are doing a superhero party. I haven't worked out all the kinks yet but I know it translates well for my 3 year old BGB's.

I also loved an idea I saw for a survivor themed party, where all the kids got bandannas and then team based obstacle courses and events. It looked adorable!

Good luck and just have fun!
