Hi,

I just started to PT my trio this week. One gets it, another 1/2 gets it and my last girl hates it. I do the 2 hour schedule and ask them frequently if they need to use the PT. They each have their own potty. Sometimes the one that 1/2 gets it ignores me and will not sit on the potty. She will go pee a little and say all done but I know she has to go more because she is crossing her legs and will have an accident. So far she has had 3 accidents today and was dry during her nap. She knows that a pull-up is a diaper and I try to not put her in them but only at night. She has preschool on monday and I hate to put a pull up on her. I was thinking about the gerber thick training pants. Any advice and give me your best PT tips.

thanks

Hi Karen,

We are still working on potty training so I don't have any great tips but I also struggled with what to do about the Mother's morning out program they attend. I have two girls that are very close to being potty trained with only the occasional accident and one that is just not quite there yet. I started out sending two in panties and one in a pull-up. When Abby (the one who is the least potty trained) asked to wear panties to MMO, I let her because I knew the teachers were willing to work with her and wouldn't be too upset about an accident. And they always have a change of clothes in their backpack. I was fairly certain she would have an accident because she rarely goes a full morning at home without an accident and that is after I take them several times to the potty and remind them that they need to tell me if they need to go non-stop. Anyway, she has now been wearing panties to MMO two times a week for three weeks and so far she has not had any accidents there. I don't know what it is about "school," maybe she is trying to be a big girl there. Of course today she came home and had an accident right when we walked in the door (as I was trying to convince her to come and sit on the potty).

We have the thick training pants but I chose not to try them because when Abby has an accident, it is usually enough that it would go right through the training pants. I decided to just stick with regular panties or a pull-up and not confuse the matter.

Good luck. It is nice to know there is another mom out there spending as much time in the bathroom as me these days.

I say concentrate on the other 2 girls and leave your one that hates it alone for a little while. It is easier to potty train 1 or 2 at a time. My girls were both potty trained before I tackled my DS. Is your preschool ending soon? I know ours only has a few weeks left. I would concentrate on the 2 who are interested and save your hold out until preschool is over for the year and you don't have to take her to school.

If that doesn't work for you, I would send her to school in a pullup. I put pullups on my kids every time we left the house until they "got it" enough to leave the house in underpants. Wearing a pullup when we went out didn't seem to hurt their potty training progress.

I would say use the pullup too.

Our three are daytime pee trained, but will withold the poo...causing bigger issues. We had trouble with them only letting a little out too for a while, but then we started doing a special reward for putting ALL the pee in. They got to go with mom someplace special (it was our local greenhouse that also has a pet section and to the local Menards to the indoor play area) Once they started doing it they never went back to putting only a little in.

We have now switched to giving rewards only for a dry night diaper and a dry nap diaper...since they keep it dry 99% of the time otherwise. I have put them BACK into diapers because of the poo issue. Due to one's eating issues it is just not worth it to end up with constipation.

Well today went pretty good at preschool. I sent 2 in underwear and they did not have any accidents and used the bathroom at school. One of my girls was also not letting all her pee out but finally today I have noticed she is peeing more and having less accidents. I only put a pull up on them at night. So I am going to keep on trying. I will wait on my other dd since she is not ready at all.
