Hi all,

it's been a while, which I guess is a good thing (guess I didn't need advice!) Hope the rest of you are well.

Well my boys just turned 3 years old, and one of them is having a really hard time talking. He understands everything, follows direction better than anyone, but mumbles when he talks. He attempts to speak, but it is sooo hard to understand him. He was with a speech therapist, but that cycle is over and I have to wait a little bit, until it begins again. Did anyone have a hard time with there kids? His articulation is very poor, and with much research, I've tried to do some oral motor skills exercises and notice he has a hard time with placement of his tongue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you brought him in to a nose, ear and throat specialist?

The way you describe him sounds very much like one of mine before he got his tonsils taken out. It was so bad, that the nurse that checked us in, was all "Oh, you are here for his tonsils." I had no idea, I was just in to check it all out before speech therapy started in case there were underlying issues.

Tubes in his ears and tonsils and adenoids out... soon he no longer sounded like he was talking around marshmallows

he had his ears checked, but it was always around when he was sick with a cold. I called yesterday to have his ears checked again, and will see what they say. I'll get the doctor to check his tonsils too....thanks, I never thought of that!
