#81, "Pre-School issue with potty training"

I have been out of town for a couple of days on business. My dh picks up the boys on Tuesday from pre-school and the teacher has a note in their folder and tells my husband that they have been having a lot of accidents lately and she thinks we should send them to school in pull ups. What???
I know they do have accidents like one of them may have 1 a day and they are there from 9-2. However, I honestly feel like maybe they are not comfortable telling the teacher when they need to go. At home although we have some accidents they are pretty good and can usually just go to the potty and take care of business.
And when we registered them for this school they assured me they would assist me in my potty training efforts. So to put them back in pull ups, would this not cause more regression??? To me it sounds as if she(teacher) does not want to have to deal with cleaning them up. I am a little upset with this. Am I over reacting?
I sent her an email as I was unable to catch her on the phone this afternoon explaining where I was coming from. Is it to much to ask for her maybe to give them some extra reminders? Also, they are very regular with their bowel movements. Within an hour after ever meal.
I just feel it is a bad move to put them in pull ups all day.

Thanks for your input.

Angela,

I personally would not go back to Pull Ups. I think it would be confusing. You were right to initiate a conversation with the teacher about being a little more supportive. Can you maybe buy the "training" underware? The ones that are more thick in the middle?

I hope they get better at it, I know potty training was such a difficult thing in my house!!! Good Luck

I would have to agree about not going back to pull-ups that would be too confusing for them. Is there anyway that they could let you know what the bathroom routine is at pre-school? Maybe you can try using the same routine at home etc. Ours are almost 2 yrs 11 mths old and I am so thankful that our daycare has been vigilant with their potty training – I think we have the bm’s under control but they are still not saying “I have to go” what they do is wait until the entire group of them head off to the bathroom etc. so we still have a lot of work to do. I am hoping that by December/January to move them to big boy/girl underwear.

Hang in there!!!
