#8449, "Loose tooth?"

One of my kids has a loose tooth, at 4.75 years old. After googling, and talking to the doctor, it seems this is normal. But man, it feels way too soon. Any other early loose teeth out there?

I taught 4K for 8 years. Each year I'd have at least 1 or 2 kids lose a tooth during the school year. It's on the early side of normal, but definitely happens! No worries!

Since my other job is being a dentist I thought this would help.
Most likely just normal loss of a baby tooth.
Occasionally a child can fall or have other trauma to the tooth that can cause the nerve of the tooth to die (even years later) and become infected. Here are things to look for: grey discolored tooth, swelling or a "pimple" by the gums above the tooth, fever, or discomfort. If none of those thing then it is probably fine, but it would be great to see a dentist to get a quick X-ray just to be sure nothing else is going on.
It is amazing to see these little ones grow so fast.

Really??? You think this is easier?

Hi,
Yes, I was shocked to when my little girl was only 4 years 8 months (on Australia Day) had her first wobble of her first tooth. as it turned out, she was slightly ahead of her id sister and about 2 months ahead of her brother, but all three had thier full 4 front top and bottom teeth before starting school at 5 years 8 months. They are now in the 1st year and thier class mates are all loseing teeth and back to mush...... much better at 4 and 5 then 6 and 7. also if you have early maturers like I do, then they might be ready for braces in elementary school instead of high school, (alltogether better).
The only bad thing is having great big adult teeth when very young and clumsy! so far so good in my case!
regards,
Ozzy girl
