#949, "What kind of travelling high chairs to buy?"

MY QUESTION IS: what type chair/booster should I purchase that will have a tray, and will pack up without taking up huge amounts of room?

BACKGROUND FOR QUESTION:
We are going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving (actually the weekend before) and this will be the longest trip we have stayed away from home without eating primarily in restaurants with high chairs. I have booster chairs that travel very nicely and serve great in a pinch, but they do not have trays and the kiddos don't eat as well without being able to feed themselves thus we need a tray. My MIL's dining set up is very plush so eating directly off the table is not a solution. Since we will be gone for three days I feel I need to provide the optimum situation, so they will eat as well as possible, so MY QUESTION IS: what type chair/booster should I purchase that will have a tray, and will pack up without taking up huge amounts of room?

TIA

We have the Safety First booster seats. They strap directly onto the dining room chairs, and they have a removable tray, so you can use them independently or take the tray off and use them at a table. The tray comes off, and they fold, so they donīt take up a lot of space. Weīve really liked them. Sorry I donīt have a link for you...ours were a gift. HTH

We have the Fisher price Healthy care seats and LOVE them! They are height adjustable, so they can fit almost any table, and the tray has a lid, so it stays clean between uses. We keep them in the car to use whenever or where ever we need.

Here is a pic from a camping trip last summer:

I second the Fisher Price seats. They aren't too bad to travel with. The seat back folds down and there is a cover for the tray. They are now the seats my kids use everyday at home.

We have these as well and they have been wonderful for us while traveling. My three are now old enough that they prefer to sit without them, but for the time we needed them, they were priceless.
