My one DD wants to be a frog for Halloween, but I haven't found anything for a five year old.

Are there frog costumes for older kids? I keep finding baby ones. Maybe this is a good time to let her know that frog costumes are for babies. LOL!

Green sweat suit and lots and lots of green paint on her face and hands and perhaps a head band with BIG eyes stapled on. I think she'll love helping you make it and painting herself up and you'll enjoy the memories. I bet you could sew some felt green webbed gloves for her to slip on too if you felt 'venturous.

My children wanted to be a deer when they were five. No costumes to be had. So I found some brown "fur" and made a cape. did do what I could to help those handing our candy recognize what they were by sewing the words BAMBI on their capes. I found antler headbands on ebay - they had a blast and still wear their capes from time to time. I am more then sure people had no clue what these children with antlers on their heads were dressed up as BUT my girls enjoyed themselves and had no issues telling everything what they were when asked.


ps I am not a seamstress and felt out of my element.

i had the same problem when my then 3 year old wanted to be a monkey last year. i do sew a little so i found a pattern for an infant costume and used a brown sweat suit for instead of making the full body. attatched the chest panel and the tail to that, then took a safari hat and attatched monkey ears and some leaves. it turned out really cute and he still wears the hat.

maybe swim goggles for the big eyes, a pair of swim fins on her feet, and a green sweat shirt with a big yellow tummy and some pokadots? jumping and croaking might help too. i think it's great she wants to be origional. my girls kindergarten class had 5 captiain jack sparrows last year, including a volunteer mom!

Once for a dance routine when we were little we were frogs. The costumes were big, puffy sewn things with green tights. Doing something like that would be a bit of a sewing challenge.

But the cutest part of it was the hats---They were green hoodie things with the egg shaped pantyhose things glued to it and black pupils drawn on it to look like big eyeballs.

Does that make sense??? I don't even know if they still sell that type of pantyhose---was the name brand maybe Legg's?? Hope I have described this right!?!? Maybe fashion a greet hat with the plastic egg things glued to it and a green sweatsuit? HTH!

I did end up finding a frog costume at none other than my favorite place to shop: TJ Maxx!
