How old were your kiddos when they could shower by themselves? I'm so tired of bathing all five kids.
Thanks

Mine are almost 6 and I still help them. They wash themselves, but I have to help with their hair. They know how to wash their hair, but they freak if they get water in their face, so it is easier to do it myself. Dawn

Mine just turned 6 and are taking showers now. DH or I go into the bathroom and remind them to wash hair and make sure the shampoo gets rinsed out and hurry along the process. They are very scared of getting water/soap in their eyes and sometimes take some prodding to get their bangs wet.
One daughter was very interested in showering like mom does rather than taking a bath. Once she got used to it, we let her sister shower with her to see what it was like (they did get a bit silly though). She still prefers a bath but will shower if necessary. Our son will shower but is very hesitant about getting his hair wet.
I would definitely try it with your son and see how it goes. I think we could have done showers before we did and made life a bit easier. We had bought a kiddie showerhead but really didn't need it. (that reminds me, I need to put that in our multiples sale next month)

I completely banned baths in my house about 3 months ago. They were slopping so much water everywhere, and every night was a water party. They now take showers in our master shower which has 2 heads. It is also completely sealed so I can just shut the door if they are splashing too much for me. I have one DS who will do the whole thing himself, and the other 2 require supervision. It is so much easier. My two year old even joins them most evenings.

I want to say my older twos were showering with assistance - it saved m back and was quicker. By four they were at least soaping themselves up and I was washing their hair. By five they were doing it all themselves. Our issue is the duration of the shower and reminding of them of the reason why they are in the shower to begin with - TO WASH THEMSELVES.
Funny story - my girls are now seven and we still have the forgetfulness and sometimes forgetting they stopped up the tub so they can play in a pool of water. *rolling eyes*. So my daughter hopped out of the shower and my other daughter jumped in. She yelled "there is no soap or shampoo". I turned to the soaking wet child in front of me and asked her what she did in the shower her response was "sing".

I have great kids but water splashing, dumping soap/shampoo/conditioner out, stopping up the tub to fill it up, forgetting to get a towel BEFORE getting are a CONSTANT issue. There is no free ride yet.
