Hi!
My boys are 8 years old and in second grade. They are in three separate classes.
The biggest challenges with my boys is their fighting with each other over very petty things, the bathroom humor (one in particular), and the constant high energy/noise level in our house.
All three boys enjoy sports. We play soccer, baseball, and basketball through our parks and rec.
This year I'm voluntering more than the past years. Every two weeks in each boys class, and pretty much anytime the PTO needs help. Picture retakes, spirit sale distribution, mock election, etc. The boys moved to the 2-5 building this year, and it has been a big change for me. Not as warm and fuzzy as the K-1. WPT were in the county preschool program located in our K-1 for OT/PT. Therefore we were in the K-1 for a total of five years! (We took an extra year of preschool to catch up on fine motor.)
We live in Ohio.

My trio are in 2nd. The biggest challenge currently is arguing with each other. At least they argue more like big kids. So less screaming. Just lost of tormenting and taunting. LOL And of the eye rolling and attitudes. I guess they have to pull it with each other because they know they can't do it with me.
They enjoy scouting and academic team.
I volunteer in the school more now that Abby is in K. Last year I could only only give them one day a week. Now I do 2-3 full days a week. Wed in the trio's class, Fri in their sister's class and a floating day doing bulletin boards, helping in the family resource center or other area of the school as needed.
I'm in Kentucky.

Hello,
My trio are in K this year. They are all in the same class for this year.
Our biggest struggle is all the fighting over the petty things.
My boys love sports, they just finished up with flag football and getting ready to either wrestle (not really what I want them to do) or basketball (heavy lean on that one). And my daughter is in dance classes.
We live in Northeast Pa.
Also, my older dd is in the 5th grade. She is into Soccer.

Hello. My kids are in the third grade this year. They are 8 years old. Right now are biggest challange with school is tests. They have hallistic tests for reading, math, and science which counts for 40% of their grade. They take one or two each nine weeks. My son does horribly on them. Homework most nights of course is a challange with my son. My girls do their's just fine.
Both my girls are in dance. One does ballet and the other does tap. My son is in karate. And they go to Awana's at church on Wen. nights.
I do volunteer in their school. Not so much as when they were in kindergarten and I was there once a week. Now it is more for different activities that happen through the year.
We live in Florida. So our next biggest challange later this year will be the FCAT test. If they don't pass they are held back in the third grade. Tina mommy to Grace,Christopher and Hannah

What grade are you kids in? 5th and 3rd
What do you find is the biggest challenge in this age group so far? Homework!
What activity do your kiddos like doing the best? The love, love, love to play outside with their neighborhood friends!
Do you get to volunteer at your kiddos school? Just field trips and stuff. I used to volunteer more, but I work a few hours outside the home and we have been dealing with medical issues with dd. That has pretty much been consuming any "free" time I may have had.
What state do you live in? WI

What grade are you kids in? They are in the first grade, separate classrooms though.
What do you find is the biggest challenge in this age group so far? Aside from them being the same age...attitudes, petty fighting...the usual. What activity do your kiddos like doing the best? Seeing what mommy is doing. Talking to mommy. That'll change soon though when I sign the boys up for Upwards basketball and sign my girl up as a cheerleader. Do you get to volunteer at your kiddos school? I do book fairs and print shop in the library. What state do you live in? Georgia...for now. We're military.
Nice meeting you.

Hi,
Nice to see a forum specific to my children's age-group.
I have bbg who are in 1st grade at a French immersion school. They are all in separate classes.
Big challenges are how to suppress all the quarreling and get them to do their chores and homework. This is our first year without an au pair which has been a challenge for me!
Last year in kindergarden we did not do any activities besides school (except soccer). But this year the kids are doing chess club(bb), ballet (bg), violin (bbg), choir at church (bbg), and skating (bbg)! Maybe tooooo much. I have one ds who loves activites and classes. He is in all. Each of the other children is in either chess or ballet, but not both.
Although I work in software development, the hours can be made flexible so I have volunteered a few times at the school and at school events, and I attend their violin lessons each week at school.
We live in Minnesota (hence the skating).

My boys are in the 2nd grade, all in separate classes, my dd in the 4th.
Biggest challenge: Daily reading, reading responses and the reading logs. Uggh, I have reading logs!!!
Boys like soccer and karate; 2 of mine love their Nintendo DS Pokemon game. One does not care much for video games, more into social interactions.
I do not volunteer much since I work full time. I do art appreciation presentations, chair Russian section for multicultural night, chaperone some field trips.
I'm in Northern NJ. Inna, mom to Rachael (8/7/99), Evan, Ari and Josh (5/29/01)
