Hello all, I hope you are all having a good holiday season so far. I've been really busy getting things done around here. We celebrated our baby's 5th birthday on Friday night, I got the tree up inside, but we keep having nasty weather around here which is keeping me from getting anything up outside. Just might have to skip that this year, oh well.

1) What color are the lights on your tree?

2) What is the one thing always in your stocking each year?

3) Artificial or real tree?

4) What is your favorite holiday treat?

5) Bags, boxes or wrap the gifts?

Have a good week everyone!

Kim

Boy the time is just flying by here too. Crazy -- and I so desperately want to enjoy it all.

1) What color are the lights on your tree?

They are white, w/ white garland and too many ornaments!

2) What is the one thing always in your stocking each year?

We give the kids electric toothbrushes every year. They love them!

3) Artificial or real tree?

Ours is fake. It is our favorite fake one yet. 7.5 ft w/ 1000 lights.

4) What is your favorite holiday treat?

My mom makes peanut butter balls covered in chocolate. Love em!!

5) Bags, boxes or wrap the gifts?

We always wrap unless it is just too darn big. The basketball hoop for the kids this year will just have a big red bow on it! Lol

Hi,

We are maybe a bit behind the rest of you all.

1. No tree yet. We have big retro colored lights and tiny white ones. I'm voting for the tiny white ones this year - but we shall see.

2. Oranges and chocolate coins

3. Real tree and not a spray-painted one.

4. Those Melting Moments or Mexican wedding cakes or Swedish teaballs or whatever you call them - round buttery balls covered in powdered sugar. But I like egg nog too. Would love to compare recipes with you all.

5. We basically wrap. But each child has one (large and not easily wrappable) item that is not wrapped and gets set up by the tree - This year it will be a racetrack for the boys and a stable with horses for dd.

Cheers.

Hi all - I am so excited I just learned how to copy and paste ! I am very computer illiterate!

1) What color are the lights on your tree?
colored on the family tree and boys room tree , white on my little room tree and my gingerbread tree

2) What is the one thing always in your stocking each year?
toothbrushes and Russell Stover Santa's (my Grandmother used to bring them to us every Christmas Eve)

3) Artificial or real tree?
3 real (boys is Charlie Brownish!)- artificial in my room and hoping to get artificial after season for my gingerbread tree.

4) What is your favorite holiday treat?
cookies - frosted sugar or mint frosted brownies

5) Bags, boxes or wrap the gifts?
both

I tried to get ahead of things so I could really enjoy the season and it was going well until last night - the past few days have been busy with traveling for various things and last night we drove 1 hr to bring the gecko and guinea pig to the vet - very happy with fairly good reports and then went to do one errand (can't go 1 hr to where we have access to shopping and not do errands!). So the boys put their animals in their coats to keep them warm/hidden from BJ's employees(I felt guilty about this). Long story short - the gecko fell out of Casey's coat and he did not realize it. A woman ran over him with her cart and a VERY kind BJ's employee (former army medic and nurse whose son has a gecko!) took him and was going to try to fix him up. We realized what happened - he did not look good - he patched him up as best he could and we left. On the way out they checked Brendan as the bulge in his coat looked suspicious - his guinea pig! UGH - I about died! of course, I was in a panic and called the vet to bring the gecko back - ended up having stitches, anesthesia.....needless to say it was much more $ than I ever planned on spending on a gecko. In hindsight, I wish we had not gone to the vet and just called it a good learning for Casey. But I did not think - just reacted with motherly instinct to save him! At home I unloaded the car and inadvertantly left the meds in there and they froze overnight - so we have to buy new. UGH! I am still all tense inside and can't shake it. I realize this is so minor in the large picture and I am thankful it was not one of the kids hurt or something, but man - I need to learn to slow down so these things do not happen!

Thanks for listening!

My goodness, Suzanne, what a hulabaloo!

But everybody lived and the only damage was to the gecko and your wallet. You and the boys will look back at that night and roll on the floor laughing. How is the gecko now?

Yes - we will laugh and in the big scheme of things , this is just a little stress.

The gecko is miraculously seeming fine -thanks for asking! His whole belly lost it's skin and all his insides were exposed - incredible that he did not die instantly. He has tons of stitches but is walking and acting ok. We take him back Thurs for more antibiotics so we'll see what they say - did not do x-rays (one way to save) so do not know internal damage. If he dies after all this money it will not be pretty!

Suzanne,

I'm sorry to laugh at your troubles, but this just had me cracking up this morning. I hope the gecko makes a full recovery!

Laugh away - I know it is crazy and humorous! Even my Mom who is always empathetic and supportive laughed when I called her that night in distress! She can't believe my life sometimes!

1) What color are the lights on your tree? I have two trees, both with all white lights. One tree in the family room is for mostly the kids to decorate - they let me do some ornaments at the top. The second tree is in my formal living room, I pick a new theme every year and get in touch with my inner-Martha!

2) What is the one thing always in your stocking each year? Toothbrushes, batteries, chapstick.

3) Artificial or real tree? Artificial nowadays. It used to be real always, then I ended up in the ER a few years back and it turns out I am now allergic to pine - go figure!

4) What is your favorite holiday treat? The sugar cookies we decorate for Santa. And the peanut brittle I make every year.

5) Bags, boxes or wrap the gifts? I use all but wrapping is my fav - I love to go overboard with ribbon and bows

I only have 5 work days left until I have to take off for Katie's two week quarantine and then her surgery. I will probably not be back at work until April. I feel so sad about not seeing my co-workers. I only work 10 hours per week, but they are an enjoyable 10 hours. Katie's last day of school until April will be Dec 23rd.

Tonight we are taking the whole famn damily to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's the triplets and dh' first time seeing them, so I am excited to see their reactions to the beautiful musica and their "eye candy" light show! Truly a special treat.

Have a great week everyone!

The season is flying by, we are hoping to get to Rockerfeller center this weekend to see the tree.. the kids love it.. This year they want to ice-skate at Rockerfeller Center - not so much - it COSTS a fortune.. we will stick to our local ice skating rink at Montclair State University..
We finally got up all our outside lights (took advantage of lowes 50% off sale) .
Did some major online shopping last week for my friends and family far-away.. so I am almost done..

Are we going to do a gift exchange here?

1) What color are the lights on your tree? Clear

2) What is the one thing always in your stocking each year?
