#1952, "somewhat modest girl swimsuits?"

I'm beginning the annual much-dreaded search for swimsuits for my size 4 & 5 girls.

Need:

- 2 piece (I still have the baby left to potty-train, and I want her to match) - it will be SO much easier when I can just buy one-piece!
- need something reasonably covering - in an ideal world, a tankini, perhaps even with a short skirt, but as long as the top isn't just two triangles connected by strings, I can live with it.
- cute girly prints
- if there is a coordinating boy suit, that would be the cherry on top!

Where do you find swimsuits for your girls?

We wear these when we don't have our burkas on.

Oh, man, I am cracking up. Seriously, I buy mine at Sam's Club. I get the UV resistant ones that have regular tops and then separate bottoms. Not to be modest, but to prevent skin cancer. Do you know what I am talking about?

This is similar to what we buy for half the price at Sam's Club. It's a swimshirt and bottoms, but this website has adorable swimskirts too.

Love the Old Navy ones, but I think you are 4-6 weeks late for the cutest ones. They go fast. I love the rashguard shirts. So much easier to deal with than those triangles or halter tops!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Lands End. My kids swim all summer - all the time. They are required to wear the swim shirt. I buy all matching for the boys so that I can enjoy being a "CHAIR MOM". I can easily scan the pool and see 3 bright orange matching shirts. I usually try to coordinate baby sister's shirt too. Last year she had the lands end shirt and bottoms...like a tankini but better UV coverage.n I haven't looked at this year yet, but they usually run sales if you are on their email.

I like to keep my girls covered up too! Tankinis are ideal but are hard to find anymore. I've found some here though. I've ordered that last few years from this site that and have been happy with the coverage the swimsuits provide and they fit better than those cheap wal-mart suits. Some are a little pricey but my girls swim everyday during the summer for 3-4 hours at the local pool so I definitely get my money's worth. Good Luck!

I found some great suits at Carters Outlet of all places. They are a nice top like a sports bra (slightly longer) and bottoms that aren't shorts but aren't skimpy things either. The two we bought were reversible and lasted multiple years.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Landsend Swimwear. Here is the link to the girls swim section:

We live in FL and spend 9 months out of the year in the water. These hold up nicely and have tons of adorable matching shorts and skirts. My boys wear the long sleeve Target brand, but Target doesn't carry long sleeve rashguards for the girls. Both DH and I have had skin cancer removed, so we want to be extra careful with the kids skin!

Have you looked at Gymboree? I buy almost all the girl's clothes there, I love that store. I just the bought the girl's suits there about a mo ago, real cute. They are a tankini.

Well, having ordered from a bunch of places, I thought I'd report back in case anyone else is still looking.

My favorites were from Hanna Andersson. Nice cloth that moves with the kid so even though they are a little big, they aren't hanging out. They are fully lined, and the straps are such that suit won't slip around. One of the prints (Island something) looks a little louder on the screen than in real life, and comes with a coordinating boy suit - it is my fav of everything I have looked at.

Land's End would be right up there with Hanna Andersson in my favs IF I could get all the sizes I need. I like that you can buy tops that go all the way to the waist so they aren't riding up and having to be tugged on. The bottoms are a little looser than HA, so you can't buy big. Prints are more preppy than HA's pretty florals. Last year, all the LE colors were coordinated between girls and boys, so it was easy to buy matches. This year, most of the boy suits are prints that don't coordinate (even anywhere close) with the girls. Like the greens are different and that kind of thing. I do really like that you can buy the boy suits in slim so hopefully they won't be slipping off or sagging low enough to be worrisome (a problem for most suits my son wore last year!)

We found one girl suit at Gymboree that I really like, but I am struggling to find a coordinating boy suit. Their suits were not as well lined as the ones from Gymbo in previous years. Still adequate, but not that really nice thick yet quick-drying suit you had in prior years.

Target's were all HUGE. I'm not sure what the deal is there, but my girls needed 4s from everywhere else, and both the 3s & 4s from Target were enormous, and they didn't "suck" to the body nearly as much. So when my DD was sitting on the floor, you could see all in her business. They were also thinner fabric, but the price was lower too! I had figured they would be fine for places where I knew they were going to get ruined. But those are going back!

Someone recommended CWD Kids, but I didn't see any there that I liked and could also find coordinating boy suits.

Old Navy was just too much of a zoo the day I tried to look there. I may go back during the week.
