Am I the only mom who is NOT excited about school starting? I love the relaxed schedule of the summer. I hate having to get them up and rush them out the door, usually yelling by the time we get to the bus stop (which is at the end of our driveway). I hate that I miss 8 hours of their day and that they have experiences that I can't see and be a part of. Dawn

I am with you 100%!! (and all 4 of mine are teens!).
I don't mind the kids being gone 3-4 hours a day at sports practices, friends, playing etc. but I hate 7 hours gone at school, and then to come home with homework, taking even more family time away.
We still get up "early" (830 or so) for whatever our plans are for the day but at least we have time to talk, laugh, play together.
I hate school.

Well, I'm not too excited about having to get everything together/bought for school and getting into the routine again. It is a pain trying to get everyone out the door on time. Especially since DD HATES having to wake up early. She told me today she's not thrilled about having to start getting up at "2 in the morning" again. Did I mention she's a bit dramatic?

Oh, I LOVE summer!!! I love me and the kids just hanging out together. I work at my dds'school, so I see them throughout the school day, but I hate waking up so early and getting ready for work, waking up the the kids, rushing home and cooking. It's the rushing that I can't stand. -- Gloria

I think I might be on the fence with this one.
We love summer; there's nothing more fun.
But, I think I'm kind of ready to get back to school and get a routine going again.
We've taken full advantage of this summer with camps and other fun things. I actually can't believe we did so much. It was really the first summer for a lot of fun activities that totally fit our schedules and interests.
I'm ready to get back to a workout schedule. I've totally slacked off because of our summer fun.
I'm sure I will have a different attitude in one month after I'm sick of the homework, the meetings, the volunteering and the lunch packing!

I am with you. I am not excited about school srarting. I am SO sad about the start of the school year for a few reasons.
1. My trio start K so it's bittersweet. Proud of this milestone but sad to realize they are not babies any more even though they are always going to be my babies!
2. I am also in education so back to work for me with the kiddos! I love having the whole summer off woth them. Hubby is also in educaiton so the whole family has the summer off!
3. The rush of the morning and trying to get 3 kids out the door in time and myself to work too! It's going to be so hectic.
It all starts tomorrow! I am feeling overwhelmed. I have them placed together and my sister is a first grade teacher at the same school so she will watch over them. Atleast I have that! I am still so nervous!
Wish us well!

I AM excited!
Perhaps if I would've actually had a relaxing, stress-free summer and time to actually do something fun I may feel diferently. It's been a rough summer
I, along with my neighborhood mom friends, will be doing a happy-dance as soon as the bus pulls away! Weeeee!
Of course I WILL miss them! Always do!
When they started all-day kindy, it was a different story. I walked around the house feeling lost and worried about them the entire day.
Now when they start college......that will be an entirely different story. I'm stocking up on kleenex. "Just remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, but it takes action, perseverance, and facing your fears."-- Gillian Anderson

Mine are returning to school on the 1 September so still another couple of weeks to go - as much as I like the relaxed feel of summer I do enjoy the back to school routine - my kids are starting to get bored (who can blame them they have been off school since 30 June) - I hate the homework that goes with school and the busy mornings but I will cope with that!! I am hoping school starts before we have a trip to the ER! Only have to make it to next Tuesday.
In one week, one of my sons managed to get a really impressive black eye, stick his hand in a bowl of melted hot aromatherapy wax - dripping the wax down my sister's bookshelves, burn his fingers on the stove to the point of blistering, and injure his foot - enough to require icing and heat therapy, but not broken.
Wasn't this bad all summer, but has gotten bad the last two weeks for sure! BBB born 7/26/04 at 35 weeks

I am starting to change my mind! LOL With the fighting and the boredom and all the complaints, it is getting rough.
I am still not looking forward to them going to school and missing them all day, but I am looking forward to more stimulation for them. More quality time together instead of constant fighting and complaining. Only 16 days. Dawn
