I will be checking back to see replies from some moms with older kids who have 'been there and done that' for sure!
We are dealing with the same thing. Mine started 2nd grade this year and it started last year. Very disrespectful. What we are trying now is to really step up the punishment. Target their weak zones -- what they love. Television. Ninento. Dessert. Etc... These items are taken away for the day. Not sure if it is helping yet...

Hi, My bgb are in 2nd grade and they are calming down. I think a lot of it was a transitional period. They all handled it a little different. Last year we made sure to nip it in the bud. They had vacation taken away (who wants to go on vaction and have disrespect, and not listening) video games were earned they had to do their homework, be kind to each other, clean up their mess and talk nice to earn a stick (I used popsicle sticks and made boxes where the sticks can stand up)I let them put them in when they deserved one 5 sticks in a week got them to play video games and watch TV or take a nice bubble bath. I found that they did better earning things then being punished. It made them work for something that they wanted. Good luck
