Hi - I just wanted to know do your third or fourth graders have spelling tests? Our kids did up until this year in third grade. I don't understand how they are going to learn to spell. Is this like the new math??

My third graders have spelling tests. My two girls have abit of trouble in it, and my other daughter aces her spelling...and they're all in the same class. Through the week, I give mini-spelling tests to the girls because they also come home with math homework as well.
By the time I'm finshed with thier math and spelling....I'm pretty well done.
So...work with them and if you can get the words they need to spell for thier spelling tests... give them mini test throughout the week if you can. Good luck.

My kids are in 4th grade and they do have spelling test each week along with vocab.

But I do have several friends that go to different school whos kids do not. Not sure why. Do you know if your school is teaching them the "rules" of spelling?
