I just got in the biggest arrgument with the Godmother of our BGB. She called me to tell me that she was hurt because our two boys didn't thank her and her husband the minute they opened their presents. They each got these Lego kits that they wanted and the minute they opened them they wanted to run inside and open the kits up, I was telling them to put them down and not to run inside. My DD said thank you during all this. There was also alot going on.

When their Godparents where leaving I called our kids and told them to give hugs and thank yous for their presents, WELL their Godmother says to them no and walks away!! They had to force themselves on her to say thank you and good-bye! She didn't even hug them back!!!

So she calls me and tells me how hurt she was and that she can't believe how they treated them (by not saying thank you right away).
I told her that they are 9 years old and they didn't do it to be mean, or nasty and that they where going to thank them when they were leaving (and I also am having them write thank you cards). I told her she was wrong by rejecting them when they all came to say good-bye and thank you with hugs! I also told her that they are 9 they don't set out to hurt someones feelings on purpose and that she is an adult who should not reject children.

Am I crazy or what? There was a lot going on that day. We were outside there were family members that they haven't seen in a while. It was a little on the crazy side. I can understand feeling a little hurt but its not like they left without a thank you. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Does this individual have kids? I would guess probably not. Anyone who has kids knows that they don't always act the way they SHOULD every time. Fatigue, excitement, distraction, all can make kids forget their manners.

In a perfect world, they would say thanks right away, but the situation you outlined is the next best.

The godmother should have acted the adult and accepted the hugs and thanks.

No she doesn't have kids... I am still in shock over all this. This Friday I am meeting her for coffe. I tell you, all this after math, it is not worth getting a toy for.

This "Godmother" is CRAZY!!! To reject a child's thank you and hugs because it was NOT on her terms would NOT be a person I want in my child's life. What a miserable lady! They are children. They said thank you and offered hugs on their way out to them...they were excited when they first opened the gifts. That alone is understandable as to why they did not do it right away. WHO CARES!! She needs to get a life, have some children, and stop fussing over the little things! BFD!!! REALLY
