#336, "recylcling project question"

Hi,
Just wondering if you all have any ideas on some projects for 3rd graders. They to make something new out of something old. I need 3 different things so any ideas would help. All I have found online is pen holders and birdfeeders.
Thanks

Julie

How about:

Recycle bins out of old milk crates or plastic tubs

Vases out of old jars. I can remember doing this project in school, we took masking tape and wrapped or layered it in small strips around the jar, then took brown shoe polish and colored the tape. It actually looked pretty.

Walmart had a kit to take used paper and to recylce it to make new paper. If you looked online you might be able to find a way to do it without the kit.

Compost bins

They can use a milk jug to make a plastic bag dispenser. Just cut a square hole in the side of the jug and stuff the grocery store plastic bags in it. We keep ours under the kitchen sink.

We also use the big plastic coffee cans to store small toys. You can use glass jars to store screws, nails, tacks etc. in your tool closet.
