#650, "School policy.... oh boy!"
|
Hope I do not run into a problem with their placement. As you know I was the kids together in kindergarden and have already told the principal so (see other post). Anyway, I decided to look up the school policy and here is what it said.....
*ACADEMIC INFORMATION* STUDENT PLACEMENT In an effort to create the greatest educational environment possible, the following considerations are taken into account before determining homerooms: teacher recommendations, special education needs, boy-girl ratio, skill achievement, physical and emotional maturity of the child, past work habits, overall class size, and parent input. Parents wishing to have involvement in their child’s placement should adhere to the following guidelines: 1. Obtain “Student Placement” form from the office. 2. Complete all sections of this form and return it to the office no later than the first working day in April. While all “Student Placement” forms are considered, the final decision rests with the administration.
****** No one as even disscussed this so called "student Placement form". Will that be the so called loop hole to keep them separated???? Michelle Mom to Bryson, Emily, & Trevor (4/27/04) born @ 31w, 4d

Michelle,
That is a tough one. I too will have a long summer hoping they put my trio together for kindergarten. It is so easy for them to say not to worry about it when they really have the power in the end.
I hope it works out for both of us. Our school does have a huge amount of parent participation, so hopefully that means they keep parents happy for the most part.
Of course, I'm still skeptical and won't believe they are together until I see it. Let's try not to let the worry ruin our summer. Maybe we'll get some good ideas from the moms here.
Right there with you though,

Michelle,
Could you get a copy of the form and have it ready to turn in? Attach a letter stating that you just learned of this policy and wanted to be sure to conform to the rules. Call the principal and ask if this form would be necessary to insure that your wishes are considered. Don't mention the April deadline.
I'm sure the April deadline is so that they can begin building class lists. Our principal starts in April, but "finalizes" in May. I used quotes because we get to view our class lists the day after school gets out, but it's always "subject to change" before the first day of school in August. They want that early deadline so that they have a cushion for getting all necessary information.
At this stage, moving names from one list to another isn't going to rock the boat in any way. And the fact that your trips are mixed-gender, eases the ability to balance boys/girls in classrooms. I have it a bit harder, as my multiples are all girls.
I did notice that my girls aren't sharing classes with any other multiples this year, yet we had a set of bgg triplets in one room and a set of gg twins in another. I'm sure that was purposeful. We have 5 classes in our grade.
