#95, "College Scholarships and Re-entering the workforce"

We had two previous topics: college scholarships for multiples and re-entering the workforce. We had some good discussion on both topics. We invite anyone to add to these two topics or to include a new topic for the college and beyond age group. We look forward to some lively discussion!!!

Thank you,

Where does one find the older topics? I see nothing on the website regarding college scholarships or financial aid. I"d appreciate any help or direction that you can provide.

Thank you!

Responding to the college scholarship and financial aid for college students: We had a good forum going but we had to delete some inappropriate messages from outsiders and it unfortunately deleted all of our information on these two topics.

I'll try to get "get the ball rolling" again on this topic. When one has three or more in college at the same time colleges will look at the total family income and divide it into 1/3 for a family sending triplets to college all at once. If one's family income was $45,000 then the colleges would consider a family income of $15,000 per child. Financial aid is then considered using this 1/3 of income per child. I have three college freshman and they each received a great deal of aid. We are finding that even in this recession that most colleges are not cutting financial aid or academic scholarships from students. In fact they are increasing the amount of aid. This could vary from college to college, but my three are all at different colleges and their aid will be just as good for their sophomore year as it was for their freshman year.Colleges are making "cuts" elsewhere in their budgets. The financial aid officers at colleges are extremely helpful. They will help you "crunch the numbers" long before your child is admitted or even if your child does not
end up going to that particular college. If you have more than three in college at once(let's say four), then the total family income would be 1/4 for each child. I hope this helped.

Thanks,
bamtriplets

I would like to add some additional information about college financial aid. There are colleges that guarantee that a student will graduate "debt-free"- no student loans to pay back. Two of my daughters are attending such colleges. My other daughter is at a college where financial aid can include student loans. She's forunate to not have any. I would suggest doing a college search on the internet- looking for colleges that have "debt-free" financial aid. More and more colleges are choosing the "debt-free" route to stay competitive with other colleges.

I was a member of the triplet connection many years ago and found it to a wonderful place when you have mulitiples. I have quadruplet daughters that are seniors this year. i have been trying to find scholarships since last year, its impossible. can anyone help me? All of the girls well be going to ASU, Tempe, Arizona. The first set of quads to ever attend. That should count for something right. Having 4 in undergraduate school and a son in Law School. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would be ever so grateful. Thank you. Julie Heue
