#37, "New to this website"

Hi I'm new to this website. I was encouraged by someone at work who's daughter had the similar situation I'm going through now. I'm 39 years old and have been married to my husband for almost 8 years. We have been trying to conceive throughout our entire marriage. I have a condition called polycystic ovaries (PCOS). It's very complicated but basically, I don't ovulate. We have been trying through several different means to get pregnant: Metformin (I'm also a diabetic), Clomid, Femara, and 2 rounds of fertility shots. It is so discouraging. The fertility doctor told me after this next round of shots and if it doesn't work, the next step would be invitro fertilization. Sorry doc....but I don't have that kind of money. I also don't have money for IUI either. It's just so hard to come to the realization that those two procedures are the only thing that is the option at this point. My husband and I cannot go in debt to do that...I refuse to do that. I was encouraged to just get on this website to hear similar stories of what my husband and I are going through. Maybe someone can lift my spirits up a bit.

Thank you for listening!

I too went thru various fertility treatments until IVF worked for me. I was lucky that my insurance covered half of the cost. I would suggest that you try for an IVF grant thru INCIID. They give out grants to infertile people who otherwise woudn't be able to pursue IVF because of the high cost. Here is a link http://www.inciid.org/article.php?cat=&id=239. Also, I believe several women on this site also suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome and have gone on to have healthy babies. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the information! I will look up that grant information you referred to! I'm glad to know there are people on here that have had the same issues and my husband and I.

Thank you again!
